This one if for Mike T

Looks like MY Ohio St. Buckeyes may get another shot at YOUR Cleveland ST. Vikings in the NIT. What do you think about that?

I am not much of a follower of the NIT even when the Buckeyes have been in it in the past but I don't recall CSU playing too often in the post season tourney. Is that correct? Does that make it a big deal for the CSU basketball program?

It is a disappointment for the Bucks obviously. As a Buckeye fan yourself, I don't need to tell you that. It is interesting watching the game and cheering for my team to win but not realy having the same fire in the belly. It is alot like watching OSU Women's basketball. I cheer for my team but just can't get that worked up for it.

But the NIT could be a springboard to next season.

First time CSU has been in a post season tournament in 20 years.. so it's a big deal. If Cedric Jackson is healthy (went down with an injury during the last game), we should be in good shape. The women's team actually made it to a 15th seed in the NCAA tournament, first time ever... but like you said women's BB does not carry the same intense atmosphere in scope that the men's BB team carries.

I'm not sure what's been up with CSU in the last couple of years.. the school is really starting to take off.. the campus is constantly growing and under construction downtown.. this past year CSU Law grads came in second in the state (behind OSU) in Bar exam passing percentages for first time test takers.. CSU business MBA students are starting to consistently beat Case Western students in academic, and business strategy competitions. And now they seem to be attracting some quality athletic players..

Zac- Yes I am hoping this is a good spring board into a successful 2008-2009 season where many of these young players will have a year behind them with some post season tourney experience. Throw in some more good recruits (BTW Terrelle Pryor is supposed to be a bigger, faster and stronger arm than Troy Smith and he is coming to the football team), like the other 7 footer that is more of a true center I hear so Koufos can play his "weak" outside game and we may in good shape next year.

Mike- Sounds like CSU is really making a name for itself. I always hoped it would being in a city like Cleveland which is better than most people around the country will admit. Granted the economy is bad...but where isn't it in this country right now with the dollar down and gas prices skyrocketing. Still, if Cleveland can use that lake better and attract good athletes to CSU and make a name for itself in the college ranks along with the success in pro sports recently, look out. Maybe LeBron will stay around.

But academically as well. It is good to hear those things. I bet it has to make you proud as an prestiged alum!!!
